Spiritmother Selene

Role: Aggressive melee boss, focused on critical strikes and speed
Description:
     Selene fills the niche of an aggressive offensive melee boss. Using large, sweeping melee attacks and shadow magic she locks down a mid-sized AoE. While fighting, Selene switches between two "stances": Shadow Caster, and Shadow Fury. Her Shadow Caster stance allows her to use shadow magic to summon Darkness Effigies to fight on her behalf, or enhance her blade to shoot bolts of dark magic. Her Shadow Fury stance is a lightning fast, aggressive melee stance, where she relentless chases down enemy targets and cleaves them with devastating melee combos. Each time she enters her Shadow Fury stance, she gains enhanced speed and imbues 5 nearby allies with increased movement speed, critical strike chance, and critical hit severity.

Ability Breakdown

      
  • Shadow Fury (stance switch)
     Selene darkens the sky around her, growing in size and fury. After a few seconds, she enters her berserk Shadow Fury state, which unlocks new skills and grants her greatly increased movement speed. In addition, she grants 5 nearby allies increased movement speed, critical strike chance, and critical hit severity.
     New skills enabled: Hack and Slash, Onslaught, Double Strike, Shadow Dash, Shadow Grasp, and Shadow Leap.

Shadow Caster Abilities

  • Shade Prison
     Selene channels dark energies, targeting a circular area around her split into thirds. After a brief delay, enemies in the area are pulled to one of three locations (depending which area they were standing in), and tethered, restricting their movement to a small area. At each location, 5 Prison Shades spawn and cast a circular AoE damage spell in random order. Players caught in the tether must either work together to break the tethers or run around the edges of the tether area to dodge the telegraphed attacks.
  • Darkness Effigies
     Selene kneels and summons 6 untargetable Darkness Effigies. The effigies last 17.5 seconds and seek random targets to do a linear AoE whirlwind attack. Selene remains channeling throughout the duration of the spell.
  • Dark Blade Strike
     Selene unleashes a series of melee attacks, shooting magic bolts in an expanding cone in front of her, and then in all directions, damaging any enemies they hit.

Shadow Fury Abilities

  • Hack and Slash (melee combo)
     Selene deals a series of melee attacks, attacking a cone and line in front of her.
  • Onslaught (melee combo)
     Selene unleashes a series of melee attacks, attacking a cone in front of her and circular AoE around her.
  • Double Strike (melee combo)
     Selene strikes twice in succession, shooting magic bolts in a cone in front of her.
  • Shadow Dash (gap closer)
     Selene dashes towards an enemy target, knocking down enemies in an area around the target on arrival. Does not deal damage.
  • Shadow Grasp (gap closer)
     Selene brings her sword to the ground, pulling nearby enemies in front of her to her. Does not deal damage.
  • Shadow Leap (gap closer)
     Selene jumps to an enemy target, knocking down enemies in an area around the target on arrival. Does not deal damage.
